Title: Enhance surface structural and thermal properties of partially phosphorylated Poly (viny alcohol) (PPVA) complexex via modification with phosphoric acid Authors: Asmalina Mohamed Saat Abstract: Partially phosphorylated poly (viny alcohol) (PPVA) films were prepared by reaction of PVA with different mole ratio of phosphoric acid using solution casting technique. The thermal stability of PPVA films is increases upon the addition of phosphoric acid which prove the strong bonding between PPVA and phosphoric acid. A significant broadening effect in the X-Ray diffraction (XRD) pattern proves the maximum bonding between PVA and phosphoric acid at mole ration of 0.3. FTIR spectra the maximum bonding between PVA and phosphoric acid occurs in the PPVA sample at mole ration of 0.3. Raman spectra reveal notable variations in peak intensity, size and position of OH, P (OH)2 and C-O-P due to the interaction between phosphoric ions and PVA. Therefore, PPVA films with a mole ration of 0.3 produced optimum interaction between PVA and phosphoric acid.

Title: FTIR and Raman studies of partially phosphorylated polyvinyl alcohol - aluminum phosphate (PPVA-AIPO4) nanocomposites Authors: Asmalina Mohamed Saat Abstract: Partially phosphorylated polyvinyl alcohol - aluminum phosphate (PPVA_AIPO4) composites were synthesized through the mixing of pure polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) with phosphoric acid (PA) which produced partially phosphorylated poly vinyl alcohol (PPVA). Later, the addition of aluminum nitrate (AI2O3) to the PPVA produced PPVA-AIpo4 composite. Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) and Raman spectra confirmed the phosphate group in PPVA-AIPO4 and also OH-A1 bands. This confirmed that the phosphate group in PPVA created bonding with aluminum

Title: Environmental Risk Trade-off for New Generation Vehicle Production: Malaysia Case Authors: Muhammad Azmi; Akihiro Tokai; (UniKL MITEC) Abstract: New Generation Vehicle such as Hybrid Electric (HEV) and Battery Electric Vehicles (EV) have higher efficiency compared to conventional vehicles, and therefore releasing less carbon emissions. However, arguments arise whether this kind of New Generation Vehicle is truly clean compared to the existing system, especially in developing country such as Malaysia since current knowledge only focus on Greenhouse Gas (GHG) generation. This study aims on provide better understanding of the environmental consequences of the compact vehicle production activities based on 5 impact classifications which is GHG generation, Acidification, Eutrophication, Carcinogenic Effect, and Human Health measured in “Disability Adjusted Life-Year” (DALY) using Life Cycle Inventory (LCI) Analysis under local electricity mix in 2017 and 2030. A trade-off comparison then can be made to assess the current vehicle technologies with high potential of mass usage in Malaysia– Conventional Internal Combustion Engine Vehicle (CV), EV, and HEV vehicles with two types of batteries; Nickel Magnesium Hydride (HEV-NiMH), and Lithium Nickel-Magnesium-Cobalt (HEV-NMC). This study found that EV have slightly higher potential to cause a global warming (5,791kg of CO2 equivalent emission), follow by HEV-NiMH (4,814kg), HEV-NMC (4,596kg) and CV (4,166kg) embodied per vehicle. Cradle-to-gate of CV is better in term of GHG emission and Carcinogenic impact compared to all the studied subjects but in overall measurement, it is not the best solution for human health, measured in DALY. Conversely, HEV have high environmental impact on the same categories. DALY for 2017 EV production is at 0.0014, CV at 0.0019, HEV-NiMH at 0.0036 and HEV-NMC at 0.0022. The situation created a trade-off between having higher Acidification and Eutrophication from CV production against having higher GHG emission of its replacement EV production.

Title: System dynamic modeling of CO2 emissions and pollutants from passenger cars in Malaysia, 2040 Authors: Muhammad Azmi; Akihiro Tokai; (UniKL MITEC) Abstract: Transportation sector is the second largest producer of greenhouse gas in Malaysia next to energy sector. It contributes to nearly 28 % of annual national carbon emissions due to its heavy dependency of hydrocarbons such as gasoline. If not properly managed, carbon dioxide emissions per capita are expected to nearly double in the next 5 years. Lack of interdisciplinary study on this sector has caused proper mitigation initiatives to be delayed, compounding the damage to the ecosystem. The objective of this study is to develop a dynamic probabilistic model to determine emissions and pollutants of transportation system in Malaysia using Analytica software, with focus on passenger cars for its large number over other vehicle classes. Several vehicle fleet management policies based on several key governmental, industrial and stakeholder’s intervention have been constructed and analyzed for a period of 25 years. This analysis found that greenhouse gas emissions and pollutants in 2040 can be reduced by up to 80 %, compared to emissions of 2020, without any adverse effect on vehicle demand nor the economy. However, without proper intervention, personal transportation system in Malaysia will generate nearly 80,000 kilotons of greenhouse gas annually by the year 2040.

Title: Management Accounting System and Credit Risk Management Policies and Practices towards Organizational Performance in Palestinian Commercial Banks. Authors: Omar Alaeddin (UniKL BiS); Ahmed Thabet Abstract: The aim of this paper is to report the results of a study on the linkages between credit risk management (CRM) policies and practices and management accounting system (MAS) toward organizational performance. The research method involved two data collection methods. Firstly, this study implemented an empirical investigation for the relationship between credit risk management policies and profitability of commercial banks in Palestine over period of 7 years (2008-2014), eleven commercial banks were selected. The financial theory was employed to create the research model; Return on Asset (ROA) and Return on Equity (ROE) are defined as proxies of profitability while capital adequacy (EQTA), credit monitoring (LLPI), income diversification (NIDR) and operational performance efficiency (DTL) are defined as proxies of credit risk management. Panel model analysis was used to estimate the determination of the profit function. Secondly, administering a questionnaire to 11 commercial banks listed on the Palestinian Monetary Authority website and the respondents were those in the risk management department on banks such as chief executive officers (CEOs), chief risk officers (CROs), chief financial controllers, general managers, risk managers, and bank employees at departments related to risk management in Palestinian Commercial Banks. Base on IFAC’s (1998) framework and the Bank of International Settlement report (2013), results revealed that the credit risk management does have significant effect on the both ROA and ROE, while EQTA has a negative insignificant effect on ROA. However, the relationships between all the proxies are fluctuated. In light of the relationship between CRM practices and MAS toward organizational performance, Integration between costing system, Budgeting and information for decision making MAS x CRM Policies is positively associated with organizational performance. Likewise, some management accounting practices works to assist in managing credit risks in two main dimensions costing system and budgeting. The finding also confirms the important role of interaction between CRM, MAS and organizational performance.

Title: Penyelesaian Harta Pusaka Mafqūd Menurut Perspektif Undang-Undang Islam Authors: Mohd Muslim Salleh; Nasrul Hisyam Nor Muhamad; Ezwan Rafiq Husin; (UniKL MITEC) Abstract: The issue of muslims inheritence has been discussing since in recent years. This is due to the increased value of the estate, particularly involving muslims property unclaimed and completed by the beneficiary. Mafqud case is one of the causes of the deceased estate that could not be completed. In this context, the meaning of Mafqud is beneficiary who lost his life in which the status cannot be determined. This is not to be taken lightly as it can cause other problems such as Munasakhat (death plated). This article will discuss the theory and calculations of Taqdir and al-Jam’u, which are combined the calculation if beneficiary still alive and the calculation if beneficiary is dead. On the basis of this calculation, the least part of beneficiaries obtained between two destinies will be determined to solve the problem of distribution of the estate. The authors also discuss the application of the theory of al-Taqdir in some circumstances Mafqud case in detail. The data obtained in order to produce this article is from a literature review of previous studies and the view of Islamic jurisprudence. Therefore the authors suggested that the theory of al-Taqdīr should be used for the settlement of Muslim inheritance in Mafqud cases.
